You can use any type of yarn. It takes about 16 ounces of yarn.
Use a P hook for thicker yarns and a M hook for worsted weight.
Chain a multiple of 6 stitches plus 1.
If you crochet across the width 60 stitches works well. If you crochet
lengthwise chain 120 stitches.
Row 1
Single crochet in second chain from hook and in each chain across. Chain 1 and
turn.
Row 2
*3 single crochet ...3 double crochet. Repeat from * across row ending in 3
double crochet. Chain 1 and turn.
Repeat Row 2 to desired length or width.
Always do single crochet in double crochet of previous row and do double crochet
in single crochet in previous row.
Last row
Single crochet across.
You may add fringe if desired.
I usually make the shawls 30 inches by 60 inches. Some of the patients have
asked
for
the wider width to cover their lower back.
